In the Air Brushing Class the students will develop an understanding of what Air Brush is and how Air Brush works.  Students will careful examinations of a variety of air brushing techniques.  The following instructional text books,  “AirBrush by Peter West“ will be used to explain and demonstrate a variety of techniques.  Students will develop their knowledge of these techniques through an below mentioned assignments.

 

 

PROJECTS / WORK REQUIRED

A)Students will be introduced to the types of air brushes.  The will learn the importance of proper cleaning techniques for the airbrush.  Maintenance is of the greatest importance.

 

B) Students will complete a power point portfolio of all of their works.  In this digital presentation the students are expected to demonstrate their air brushing skills and understanding of the processes used.

 

      C) Students will explore air brush through a variety of studies, including the following list of subjects:

                                      Color Studies                          Abstraction

                                      Dimensional Renderings           Wild Life

                                      Still Life                                   Photographic Restorations

                                     

       D) Students will create a semester final which is to highlight the best of their abilities.

Geometric Shape with show Interior Space

The goal is to create the illusion that the images are dimensional, 3-d.  Shape are solid or hollow.  Shapes that are hollow may have an opened end.  Students will be taught how to demonstrate the light source as it is seen in an opening of a know geometric shape.  this can easily be done on cones, cylinders and cubes.

Second Quarter Assignments

Single Vegetable Still Life

The incredible edible vegetable.  Students goals is to reproduce as accurately as possible a vegetable.  They will need to consider shape of details, natural colors and surface light source.

This image will be completed on a 9x12 format.  For this assignment students will need to use hand held stencils, applied contact stencils and demonstrate spray application as they manipulate the light source across and within the vegetable.

Vegetables in a Basket ~ Still Life

The incredible edible vegetable an air brushing challenge!

Students goals is to reproduce as accurately as possible a small group of vegetables in a basket.  This image can be formatted, not rearranged.  The students are include all objects in this still life.  (not nessasarilly the entire object - at least part of each object is to represented.  

They will need to consider shape of details, natural colors and surface light source.  This image will be completed no smaller than 12x18 format.  For this assignment students will need to use hand held stencils, applied contact stencils and demonstrate spray application as they manipulate the light source across and within the vegetable.

Wild life Portrait

Students will create portrait of a wild or domestic animal.

This image is to be as detail accurate as possible.

True color and accurate light source is always to goal!

Fish Reproduction

Students will use their Air Brushing skills to replicate fish.  This is a short unit, the students work on an  small study as an attempt to figure out color patterns and light source.

With this accomplished the students will work on a second fish.  This last study will be sprayed on a plaster form, which replicates the work taxidermist use when preparing a trophy fish for mounting.
