The Fundamental Arts and Crafts Class will provide the opportunity to explore a wide variety of fundamental art and craft skills. Students will create a wide variety of objects, revisiting several art techniques: drawing, weaving, printing etc.
Grades will be determined based upon the student’s ability to demonstrate mastery of techniques and skills discussed within units of study.
All units are open to verbal or written quizzes.
The following is a tentative list of art and craft projects which may be included in the semester:
1) Tie Die
--simple dying technique
2) Batik
--simple tie dye techniques
--known comic strip or advertising logo
3) Block Printing
--positive / negative print “a smile face”
--Color pattern with single repetitive use of a shape
4) Rug weaving
--use of cloth strips
5) Raffia Basket Weaving
6) Small coil pottery
7) Sculpture in the Round ~

8) Collage
--make a shape
--copy a real image w/bits and pieces
--3D image on an object
